Violent weekend incidents cause victims to be treated in hospital

Two violent incidents which occurred on Saturday have left members of the community shaken and two victims requiring emergency medical treatment at the hospital.

The first incident occurred at a primary school on Old Parham Road, where a 23-year-old woman from New Winthorpes was brutally assaulted, allegedly by her former boyfriend.

The victim suffered injuries to her left ear and right eye during what authorities describe as an incident of domestic violence. Reportedly, her mobile phone was also destroyed during the attack. She was transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center, where she is currently recovering after receiving treatment.

In an unrelated incident that same day, a 24-year-old resident of Yorks Village became the victim of a stabbing while he was participating in carnival festivities in St John’s. The man was enjoying the celebrations with a carnival troupe when an unknown assailant attacked him, inflicting serious wounds to his neck and head.

Emergency responders rushed the victim to the hospital, where medical staff worked to stabilize him. He was last reported to recovering from his injuries.

Despite extensive searches and interviews with witnesses, law enforcement officials have been unable to locate any suspects in either case. However, several individuals have been questioned in connection with the stabbing incident.
