Duo accused of stealing over $137K worth of items from the Port remanded to prison

Bail review is currently pending for two individuals who were charged with larceny related to the theft of items valued over $137,000 from the Deep Water Harbour Warehouse over the weekend.

The defendants appeared yesterday before Acting Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason, where their attorney requested bail, which was denied pending a review scheduled for December 11th of this year.

The attorney contended that there was a previous case at the High Court that was similar to this one. In that matter, since the stolen items were not recovered, bail had been granted due to insufficient evidence. When Magistrate Wason inquired about the status of the stolen items, an officer reported that they have not yet been recovered.

The men, a 33-year-old resident of the Point and a 44-year-old man from Villa Area, have both been charged with the unlawful act. Although they both have no prior offences, they were still placed on remand while awaiting the review.

The men are accused of stealing several rolls of various types of copper wires and cables, along with a box of pliers valued at $1,620, a box of measuring tape, a sledgehammer, and a box of tools.

The total value of the stolen items was $137,848
