Goals from Randolph “Etty” Burton and D’Andre Bishop were enough to lift All Saints United to a 2-1 triumph over neighbours Attacking Saints and to a second straight Premier Division title as they reached an unassailable 49 points, four points ahead of second placed Grenades FC with one game left in the competition.
Burton struck in the 17th minute to put United one-nil up but a 31st minute answer from Joshua Samuel brought the teams back on level term. Bishop however scored what would turn out to be the winning goal just eight minutes later.
The win came just hours after Grenades were beaten 1-0 by Green City FC, effectively ending their title hopes.
Coach of the All Saints United team, Schyan Jeffers, said that after seeing the Grenades result, he knew his team had to capitalize on the opportunity but was still mindful going into the contest.

“I didn’t really have any chat with them. I was more serious and trying to contain my composure. I didn’t want to have any talk with them and I didn’t want to raise their confidence too much so I was just trying to keep my composure and just trying to keep it on a level so that everybody could stay focus and not to switch off from the task,” he said.
Jeffers, a former national player, praised his team for the resilience they displayed throughout the competition.
“It’s a team that never gives up, a team that never says never and a team that always wants to fight. If you watch a lot of our games, we won 2-1 and even down to the Old Road game, we won in the last minute of injury time. We’ve been showing good character throughout the whole season and I must congratulate them for doing so,” the coach said.
Grenades remains on 45 points after 18 outings following Sunday’s loss to Green City who had their winning goal come form Kayeem Hughes in the 79th minute. City moves to 17 points after 17 showings and further out of the automatic four-team relegation zone.
In the other game contested Sunday, Garden Stars defeated Parham 1-0 with the lone goal of the contest coming from Ngozie Harvey.
