Sentencing for Brittany Jno-Baptiste Adjourned to April 1, 2025

The sentencing of Brittany Jno-Baptiste, who admitted to the 2021 killing of 66-year-old Wendy Jane Finch, has been adjourned to April 1, 2025.

Jno-Baptiste, now 24, pleaded guilty to manslaughter due to diminished responsibility, following psychiatric evaluations that diagnosed her with cannabis-induced psychotic disorder.

The brutal attack occurred on October 4, 2021, inside Finch’s home in Piccadilly,  Antigua.

Reports indicate that the violent altercation was triggered after Finch refused Jno-Baptiste’s request to make a phone call.

The younger woman later entered the home through an unlocked door and attacked Finch using a pair of pliers found inside the residence, inflicting fatal injuries.

During court proceedings, Jno-Baptiste expressed remorse for her actions, apologizing to Finch’s family and her own parents for the pain caused.

Her defense argued that her mental health condition played a significant role in the crime, while prosecutors emphasized the brutal nature of the killing.

Initially charged with murder, Jno-Baptiste’s guilty plea to manslaughter was accepted due to her diagnosed mental impairment.

The adjournment means she will remain in custody until sentencing next year.

The court is expected to consider psychiatric reports, legal arguments, and victim impact statements before determining an appropriate sentence.
