Browne disclosed that discussions with Canadian representatives were expected to take place during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Antigua and Barbuda.

The proposed engagement is expected to include a bilateral meeting, followed by wider discussions involving Canada and members of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

Speaking on the Browne and Browne Show on Saturday, the Prime Minister said the government wants to strengthen its relationship with Canada and identify opportunities that could benefit the country.

He indicated that discussions would examine ways to increase trade and investment while exploring possible cooperation involving travel and the movement of people.

The Prime Minister did not announce any specific travel arrangements or confirm that an agreement had already been reached.

However, he described the proposed discussions as part of a wider effort to strengthen Antigua and Barbuda’s international relationships and create additional opportunities for its citizens.

For the government, stronger relations with Canada could provide opportunities for economic expansion, investment and greater international cooperation.

The discussions come as Antigua and Barbuda continues to use its hosting of CHOGM to strengthen diplomatic relationships with Commonwealth partners.
