St Eustatius Accelerates Canadian Tourism Push

St Eustatius (Statia) has reaffirmed its strategic commitment to the Canadian travel market with its participation in the One Caribbean Canada + USA Virtual Trade Show.

The event, hosted by Spoiled Agent, a Canadian-based central platform and resource hub designed specifically for travel advisers and travel professionals, brings together more than 27 Caribbean tourism boards, major hotel partners, and international airlines. With well over 1,000 travel advisers participating in the 1 October event, the trade show serves as a critical bridge between niche destinations and the Canadian travel trade.

Statia’s presence at the virtual show forms part of a broader, targeted campaign by the St Eustatius Tourism Development Foundation (STDF) to position the island as a premier destination for discerning Canadian travellers. This latest trade engagement follows the island’s active participation in the recent 55+ Lifestyle Trade Show in Ottawa, where representatives engaged directly with active, mature travellers seeking authentic, low-density Caribbean experiences.

“Canada represents one of our most promising growth avenues,” said Maya Pandt, director of tourism for St Eustatius. “Participating in targeted platforms like One Caribbean Canada allows us to equip travel advisers with the insider knowledge they need to confidently sell Statia. Canadian travellers are increasingly looking beyond traditional resort holidays—they want history, untouched nature, and genuine connection, which is precisely what Statia delivers.”

Statia’s trade delegation at yesterday’s event was led by communications specialist, Erieenne Brandao, who delivered the destination showcase, alongside office & finance assistant, Christina Hook, who fielded direct enquiries from advisers.

Known historically as the “Golden Rock,” Statia offers an alternative to high-volume tourism, combining marine conservation, world-class diving, protected hiking trails around the Quill volcano, and rich 18th-century heritage.

“Building lasting visibility in North America requires consistency,” added Pandt. “By pairing trade-focused events with consumer engagements like the Ottawa show, we are ensuring Statia stays top-of-mind for travel professionals and adventure-seekers alike.”

Key Highlights for Travel Professionals

  • Targeted Growth: Dual focus on travel trade education and niche consumer demographics (active mature travellers).
  • Destination Positioning: Focus on eco-adventure, rich colonial history, uncrowded dive sites, and authentic island culture.
  • Advisor Support: STDF continues to expand direct resources, destination training, and collateral for North American travel agents.
