Jamaica’s Opposition Leader Mark Golding has criticised the government’s handling of public development projects, arguing that delays should not be blamed on uncooperative public-sector workers.
Golding said the administration must take responsibility for what he described as its own failures in executing projects.
His comments followed claims that difficulties involving public-sector employees were affecting the government’s ability to complete development initiatives.
The Opposition Leader made the remarks while speaking to journalists during a visit to western Jamaica.
The disagreement highlights continuing political debate over government performance, public administration and the delivery of development projects.
The issue of project delays remains important to communities awaiting improvements in infrastructure and public services.
