Antigua and Barbuda’s Cabinet has received an update on preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026, with officials reporting progress across several key areas ahead of the international gathering.
According to the update presented by the national task force, 53 countries have confirmed their participation in the meeting, which is expected to bring Commonwealth leaders, government representatives and international delegates to the country.
Security arrangements remain a major priority. More than 600 security officers are assisting the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda and the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force. Security personnel have also arrived from Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, The Bahamas and other Regional Security System member countries.
Transportation arrangements are also advancing, with more than 450 local vehicles, including buses, taxis and paratransit vehicles, secured to assist with transporting delegates.
The government says preparations are continuing across accommodation, security, transportation and ceremonial arrangements as the country prepares to host the four-day meeting from November 1 to 4.
