“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach good news.” Luke 4:18. This scripture serves as the spiritual foundation for “Inspire Antigua and Barbuda”, a faith-led digital media platform dedicated to highlighting the good news unfolding across the twin-island state of Antigua and Barbuda and throughout the wider Caribbean.
In a media environment where negative stories often dominate the airwaves and shape public consciousness, Inspire Antigua and Barbuda was intentionally created to shift the narrative. The platform exists to shine a light on hope, celebrate people, and remind communities that goodness, kindness, and resilience remain deeply rooted in our society.
The platform is the vision of Azara Lavia, Founder and Media Director, a proud Antiguan and Barbudan with more than 18 years’ experience in the media industry. Her career spans news reporting, news anchoring, producing, voice acting, public relations, media relations, and content creation.
Through these roles, she developed a keen understanding of the powerful influence media holds over public emotion, national morale, and collective identity.
“I love my country deeply, and I believe that how we tell our stories matters,” Lavia said. “Media has the power to shape how people feel about themselves and their nation, and I felt strongly that we needed more spaces committed to hope, encouragement, and truth.”
Her academic and professional training in public relations, marketing, public speaking, and journalism further sharpened that conviction. Over time, while working within traditional media spaces, Lavia became increasingly aware of how constant exposure to negative narratives can weigh heavily on communities, often overshadowing the good that is happening every day.
“Negative news already dominates so much of what people see and hear,” Lavia stated. “This platform exists to shift that balance, to ensure that good news is not buried or overlooked, but elevated and celebrated.”
She explained that the direction for Inspire Antigua and Barbuda came through a clear sense of divine guidance, prompting her to use her skills in service to something greater than herself.
“This platform was born out of obedience,” Lavia said. “I truly believe God placed it on my heart to use media as a tool to shine light, uplift spirits, and remind people of the good that still exists all around us.”
Inspire Antigua and Barbuda focuses on highlighting acts of kindness, national achievements, charitable initiatives, community service, and inspirational stories that reflect the very best of who we are as a people.
It celebrates everyday citizens doing meaningful work, organizations quietly impacting lives, and moments that restore faith in humanity. At its core is a simple but powerful belief that small deeds create big impact.
Since its soft launch on social media just weeks ago, the platform has recorded strong organic engagement, affirming the public’s appetite for uplifting content. Several of Inspire Antigua and Barbuda’s top-performing stories have resonated widely, with leading features amassing 29,000, 40,000, and as high as 89,000 views.
These stories, including content shared within the Inspire Antigua Barbuda group and the Antigua Together Barbuda group, demonstrate the platform’s growing reach and its ability to connect audiences through messages of hope, kindness, and positivity.
“That level of response confirmed what we already sensed,” Lavia said. “People are hungry for good news. They want to see kindness acknowledged, service appreciated, and stories that remind us of who we are at our best.”
Beyond viewership numbers, Inspire Antigua and Barbuda continues to cultivate a sense of pride, unity, and encouragement among its audience. Guided by the scripture, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it,” the platform remains committed to choosing light over despair and positivity over pessimism.
“This is my contribution to nation-building,” Lavia said. “It’s my way of serving my country with intention, love, and faith, and helping to build a media culture that restores hope and pride.”
She is encouraging Antiguans and Barbudans at home and abroad to come on this journey with her. To share the good they see in their communities. To celebrate one another’s achievements. To help shape a media space rooted in upliftment, unity, and purpose.
