Wave of Home Break-Ins Reported Across St. John’s and Surrounding Villages

Police are investigating a series of house break-ins and larcenies reported across several communities, including George Street, Yorks, Gray’s Hill, and Potters Village, during a 24-hour period.

In multiple cases, homeowners reported securing their residences before leaving for work or errands, only to return later to discover forced entry through windows or doors. Police say intruders ransacked bedrooms and kitchens, targeting electronics, jewelry, household items, and cash.

Investigators noted similar methods of entry in several locations, including the removal of glass louvres and the prying open of wooden doors. Despite canvassing neighborhoods and conducting searches, no suspects have yet been identified.

Police are advising residents to be mindful and take precautions, especially during this busy season. They have also promised a higher presence in and around the city.
