PDV Caribe has contributed $6,000 to the Care Project to help the government-run facility purchase essential supplies needed for its daily operations. The donation was presented during a brief ceremony on Tuesday at the former Pediatric Ward of the Holberton Hospital.
General Manager Jellette Ralph handed over the cheque to Matron Aldine Robins and Operations Manager Sandy Daniel, who accepted on behalf of the facility.
The Care Project provides long-term residential care for individuals with severe physical or mental disabilities—many of whom have been abandoned and have no other support system. While the facility primarily serves children, residents currently range from ages 10 to 48, with many expected to remain in care for life. The project functions under the Ministry of Health.
PDV Caribe Antigua and Barbuda Ltd., a government-owned company responsible for the operational arm of the PetroCaribe Energy Agreement, has supported a range of social and developmental initiatives over the years. Among them is the People’s Benefit Programme, which provides monthly financial assistance to pensioners and families experiencing hardship.
The company marked its 20th anniversary in September.
