Johnson Wins ABLP Primary in St. Philip’s South After Four-Way Contest

Kiz Johnson has won the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) primary in St. Philip’s South, securing the party’s nomination after topping a four-way race on Thursday with 167 votes.

Johnson finished ahead of Malcolm Charles, who received 112 votes; Adrian Richardson, who secured 49; and former government minister Lennox Weston, who received 44.

St. Philip’s South is currently held by United Progressive Party (UPP) Member of Parliament Sherfield Bowen, who won the seat in the last general election. His victory marked a significant gain for the UPP, which reclaimed the constituency after years of Labour Party dominance.

The ABLP’s selection of a new candidate signals a strategic push to retake the seat, which has become increasingly competitive.

Following her win, Johnson thanked supporters for their confidence, saying the primary result reflected a desire for renewed representation and fresh leadership. She pledged to continue building momentum as the party prepares for a national campaign.
