Benna Girls Make One Change Ahead of Turks & Caicos Islands Women’s International Festival

A 19-member senior women’s football team departed the VC Bird International Airport on Wednesday, December 10, for the Turks & Caicos where they will compete in the Turks & Caicos Islands Women’s International Festival Invitational scheduled for December 11-14.

The Benna Girls made one change to the squad that were defeated 4-0 by Nicaragua in their Group B opener of the Concacaf Women’s Qualifiers late November with forward Rrisha Simon replacing Iressiea Allen.

Antigua and Barbuda will join hosts Turks & Caicos and Renegades FC out of the Bahamas for the three-team competition. The Benna Girls will open their campaign against the hosts on Friday at 6:00 p.m. before facing Renegades one day later also at 6:00 p.m.

The tournament forms part of a larger music, sports and cultural event taking place in Turks & Caicos and is dubbed ‘a significant sporting event for women’s football in the Caribbean’. It will take place alongside the larger Turks & Caicos International Music Festival, which blends music, pageantry, sports, and culture.

Full Squad: Amyah Hodge, Brianna Roberts, Denovia Jarvis, Jessica Powell, Nicelle Drew, Abisha Henry, Jada Benjamin, Karmellia Hughes, Carlene Thomas, Zolique Samuel, Shakea O’Garro, Nafisa Quashie, Virgina Simon, Kai Jacobs, Kevoncia James, Gabrielle Desuza, Rrisha Simon, Keitonya Skepple, Zoya Simon.

The team is coached by former national players Karen Warner and Nikisha Samuel.
