Chinese Embassy Gifts Cultural Pavilion to Sir Novelle Richards Academy

The bond between Antigua and Barbuda and the People’s Republic of China grew even stronger this week with the donation of a traditional Chinese-style pavilion to the Sir Novelle Richards Academy (SNRA).

In a brief but meaningful handover ceremony on the school grounds, Chinese Ambassador Zhang Yanling and Principal Mrs. Bradshaw officially signed the handover certificate, marking the pavilion’s entry into use by the school community.

Ambassador Zhang described the gift as a symbol of China’s enduring friendship and cooperation with Antigua and Barbuda, particularly in education and culture.

She noted that the structure is more than just an architectural feature; it represents a “window into Chinese culture,” giving students the chance to engage with elements of Chinese design, art, and tradition right on their campus.

Principal Bradshaw, expressing heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the students and faculty, said the school remains committed to strengthening cultural and educational ties through the study of the Chinese language and related exchange programs.

Both sides underscored that such initiatives deepen mutual understanding and pave the way for continued collaboration between the two nations.

Standing proudly in the school’s courtyard, the elegant pavilion, crafted in classic Chinese architectural style, now serves as a new gathering space for students, teachers, and visitors alike.

Beyond its aesthetic charm, it stands as a lasting reminder of friendship, learning, and the shared pursuit of cultural harmony between Antigua and Barbuda and China.
