The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) says it continues to manage COVID-19 cases safely as the virus remains present in Antigua and Barbuda.
Public Relations Officer Salma Crump confirmed that occasional positive cases among patients and staff are “expected” but stressed that strict infection-control measures are in place to prevent wider outbreaks.
Hospital administrators say lessons from the pandemic—such as enhanced sanitation, regular staff training, and close monitoring of flu-like symptoms—remain central to their response.
Health officials are urging residents, especially those with underlying conditions, to remain vigilant. While Antigua and Barbuda has largely reopened, they warn the virus still circulates.
The SLBMC assured the public that it is prepared to handle new cases and that patients can safely access care.
