The Ministry of Works has acquired five miles of guardrailsto be installed across Antigua and Barbuda in a bid to improve road safety.
At this week’s post-Cabinet briefing, Director General of Communications Maurice Merchant reported: “The Honourable Minister was also able to report that she is in possession of about five miles of beautification guardrails that will be installed at different areas on the streets in Antigua and Barbuda.”
He said the initiative forms part of the government’s broader agenda to enhance the nation’s infrastructure, alongside beautification projects such as tree-planting along highways and community clean-up campaigns.
Cabinet has urged the Ministry of Works, the National Housing Corporation, and the Department of the Environment to accelerate roadside improvements, reflecting Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s call to pair safety upgrades with national beautification efforts.
The guardrails are expected to reduce accident risks along key roads while contributing to a cleaner, more attractive landscape.
