Antigua and Barbuda Secure Fourth Place at OECS Netball Tournament

The Antigua and Barbuda netball team concluded their participation in the OECS International Netball Series with a fourth-place finish at the ECCB-sponsored tournament held at Tanteen Netball Court in St George’s, Grenada.

The Dadli Shooters faced challenging final matches on Sunday, suffering defeats against two invited teams – falling 64-26 to the Cayman Islands and 62-14 to Barbados. Despite these setbacks, the results did not impact Antigua and Barbuda’s tournament standing, as both opposing teams were specially invited participants focused on enhancing their international rankings rather than competing for OECS positions.

Antigua and Barbuda’s tournament journey began impressively with three consecutive victories. The team dominated early matches, defeating Anguilla 63-17, overpowering Montserrat 53-14, and securing a commanding 60-10 win against Guyana.

The Dadli Shooters maintained their winning momentum with a 60-38 victory over Dominica. However, the team encountered tougher competition in subsequent matches, losing 45-33 to St Lucia and 63-36 to Grenada before Sunday’s closing defeats.

St Vincent and the Grenadines claimed the overall OECS Championship title, securing victory through goal difference.

The final tournament standings positioned Grenada in second place, followed by St Lucia in third, with Antigua and Barbuda earning the fourth position among OECS member nations.
