Police have recovered multiple stolen mobile phones following two home invasions in Upper Gambles, with the total value of the devices estimated at nearly $5,000. Authorities say the burglars used a similar method in both cases, entering homes through unlocked windows.
In the first incident, a woman was awakened around 5 a.m. last Friday by scratching sounds at her bedroom window. She saw a man attempting to enter before he fled westward. The intruder had removed the mosquito screen from her closed but unlocked window and stole her iPhone, valued at $3,000.
The suspect is described as slim, of dark complexion, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, and wearing black cargo pants and a black hoodie. During a search near Fort Road, police recovered a red bag containing multiple phones, including the stolen iPhone.
In a second break-in, thieves targeted a home on Lauchland Benjamin Drive late Thursday night, making off with three mobile phones valued at nearly $2,000. As in the first case, the perpetrators gained entry by removing a mosquito screen from an unlocked window.
Police investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
