A bus passenger has been arrested after allegedly stealing a large sum of money while the driver was changing a tire.
Police said the incident occurred on Wednesday at Everyday Service Station, where the driver of a silver Toyota Hiace reported the theft of US$2,000 and EC$1,500 from a red and black money bag left inside the vehicle.
The driver told officers he had stepped away to fix a tire, leaving several passengers onboard. On his return, he discovered the cash missing and saw a passenger leaving the bus near Parliament Drive, close to the former Thomas Service Station.
He pursued and apprehended the suspect, and a search recovered part of the stolen money.
The individual was arrested on suspicion of larceny and taken to the police station. Statements have been recorded from the suspect and a witness, and investigations are continuing.
