Civic activist Bonnietha John is urging the Barbuda community to confront the increasing litter problem on the island.
After a recent clean-up operation, she emphasized the need for greater awareness and accountability, stating that it is unacceptable for residents and volunteers to continuously clean up after others who litter.
John advocates for the appointment of litter wardens and the enforcement of fines for violators, arguing that these measures are essential to preserve Barbuda’s environment for future generations.
Having recently run for a council seat, she is also calling on elected officials to take responsibility in addressing this pressing issue.
