A 35-year-old Villa resident accused of stealing over EC$200,000 from a woman’s account, has been granted $50,000 bail.
Alesha Baptiste was arrested and charged in connection with a series of offences. The charges include one count of attempted larceny in the sum of EC$55,548.19, two counts of larceny totalling EC $269,005, and 19 counts of money laundering involving EC $218,566.89.
According to reports, the accused gained access to the complainant’s account while assisting her.
The alleged offences occurred between September 2023 and July 2024.
Baptiste appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason this morning and was granted bail in the sum of $50,000 with a $5,000 cash component.
