✊🏾 ABWU Stands with Domestic Workers

On Saturday, the Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union proudly stood in solidarity with domestic workers across the country ahead of International Domestic Workers Day, observed on June 16.

This year, we joined with several of our labour partners and friends for a march through the streets of St. John’s on Saturday to shine a spotlight on the vital contributions of domestic workers in the care economy.

🗣️ “This is why we marched with you today; to bring awareness, and to remind Government, Policymakers, Employers, and society, that domestic work is decent work, hard work, deserving of fair pay, reasonable hours, medical and social security benefits, and respect,” said Hugh Joseph, Senior Industrial Relations Officer, ABWU.

The ABWU remains committed to advocating for dignity, fairness, and justice for all workers, especially those whose labour often goes unseen. Domestic work IS work, and it must be valued and protected!
