Fort James Reverse Osmosis Plant to Receive Major Upgrades with New Filtration System

The Fort James Reverse Osmosis Plant is set for significant improvements with the installation of a dual filtration system to tackle persistent water quality issues affecting production.

As part of ongoing efforts by the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) to enhance water supply, Minister of Information Melford Nicholas announced that the plant has faced operational challenges due to turbidity. To resolve this, APUA has invested in advanced filtration technology to ensure uninterrupted operation even in adverse conditions.

The new equipment has arrived, and installation will commence in late February, taking approximately six to eight weeks to complete. Additionally, APUA is exploring the feasibility of wells in the Fort James area to naturally filter water before it reaches the plant.

This initiative demonstrates APUA’s commitment to improving Antigua and Barbuda’s water infrastructure and addressing ongoing supply concerns.
