The Cabinet chose Burton and Nibbs after extensive discussions and public input, considering their significant contributions to Barbuda’s development and the broader twin-island state. Other notable Barbudans were also considered, but the Cabinet felt that Burton and Nibbs stood out for their pivotal roles in shaping the constitution and advancing the island’s economic and political landscape.
The naming reflects a commitment to recognizing Barbuda’s rich political history and economic progress.
