Judge to Rule on Future of Passport Fraud Case Against Former Police Chief

The fate of former Superintendent Ray John and his ex-partner Shakema Charles in their passport fraud case will be decided on October 9. The ruling by Magistrate Conliffe Clarke will determine if they face a retrial in the High Court or if the case will be dismissed.

John and Charles were previously accused of conspiring with Lonzel Jones from St Vincent to forge passport bio pages using unauthorized materials in 2018. Updated charges now focus on conspiracy to forge bio pages, with John also facing two counts of receiving illicit materials.

Earlier this year, they went through a three-week trial in the High Court, but Justice Tunde Bakre acquitted them, citing lack of jurisdiction to handle the case without a jury.
