School Caravan Initiative Visits Glanvilles Secondary School

On Thursday, Glanvilles Secondary School was treated to a day full of excitement and health education from a school caravan. The event was organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Medical Benefits Scheme, Sir Lester Bird Medical Center and Antigua and Barbuda Diabetes Association in collaboration with UNICEF.

The program is a nutrition campaign targeting the country’s adolescents. The initiative aims to encourage good nutritional practices, especially the reduction of consuming sugar sweetened beverages.

The activities include:

–  Health screening to include blood pressure, height, weight and body mass index (BMI)

– Health Survey

– Education Booth

– Smoothie competition

– Activities with a live DJ

Glanvilles Secondary is the third school to benefit from the initiative. St. Mary’s Secondary and Irene B Williams School had their share of the fun in October.
