PM Browne- GDP Grew by 4% in 2021- Well Above the Projected Forecast

On Sunday, Government officials and citizens gathered at the SJPC House of Restoration for the Annual Thanksgiving Service which is held on the first Sunday of each year.

Several ministers reflected on the past year and also gave their aspirations for the new year. Prime Minister Gaston Browne spoke on the trials the country has faced in 2021, as well as the economic growth despite the hardships brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Browne said that the country’s economy grew by 4% last year- well above the projected rate of 1%. He also stated that the economy’s recovery is due to the people’s resilience.

He also called on more citizens to become vaccinated, saying that the Omicron variant of Covid-19 is on island, despite this being proven by lab tests.

“If you are fully vaccinated, get boosted; If you are not vaccinated, I beg you, for the sake of your family members, your children, your grandparents and even your parents, I beg you- Get vaccinated,” he said in his address.
