OPPOSITION CALLS THE 2022 BUDGET A FAILURE

Over in Grenada the Leader of the main opposing party, National Democratic Congress is calling the 2022 budget a failure as it does not address the major concerns of the people and the economy.

Dickon Mitchell says some of the information coming out of the presentation is not factual for example the agriculture sector. In this sector he said there is no real increase in allocation.

The newly elected leader of the NDC says the budget does not address the many concerns in the health sector, specifically COVID 19.

After analyzing the 2022 presentation he says a mere 2.2 million dollars more was added to the 2022 budget in comparison to the 2021 budget and expenditure.

The National Democratic Congress he says if given the opportunity will address the issue of regularization of workers and job security.
the health care system he says in in turmoil therefore the kind of health care services needed is not addressed in the 2022 budget.

The health care sector Mitchell says is not a priority for this present administration, the New National Party.

The finance minister during his presentation says that 35 million dollars is being allocated for the agriculture sector which is more than the 19 million that was allocated in the 2021 budget and expenditure.

The Agriculture Minister Peter David during an interview confirmed the increase in the budgetary allocation for the sector and welcomed it indicating that it will assist with the smooth running of the sector and developing other programs.

The leader of the NDC said there is no increase, and added that the NDC would have done things a bit different.
