The government will be looking to add another Covid-19 vaccine to its arsenal increasing the option of vaccines to 6.
Cabinet spokesperson Melford Nicholas told the media that the country has received a commitment that at least one or more of the Cuban COVID-19 vaccines could be made available to the twin-island nation within weeks.
So far the country has AstraZeneca, Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer, Sinofarm and Sputnik V Covid-19-vaccines.
“I learnt from Foreign Affairs Minister, Paul Chet Greene that at his most recent meeting in Mexico that he would have sought advice from the Prime Minister and he has obtained support from the Cuban Ambassador who attended the meeting that certainly within the common weeks the Cuban vaccines could be available to us. We are watching it with keen eyes,” Melford Nicholas said.
“If that is another option that presents itself and becomes available we will certainly avail ourselves of it but we do not have a firm timeline as yet in terms of when that it,” Nicholas added.
