Vaccine ID Cards have been tested and are ready to be issued

Seven months after the start of the vaccination programme, residents who are fully vaccinated will be equipped with vaccine ID cards.

The government has identified the lack of these cards as one of the reasons for the closure of bars and believes that the issuance of these new cards will go a long way in addressing the issue of fraudulent COVID-19 vaccine cards.

The man spearheading that program, Information Minister Melford Nicholas stated that he was able to demonstrate to the Cabinet that the ID cards have arrived.

“We have completed the testing and implementation and have commenced issuance of the ID cards. The cards are fortified with at least four layers of security to ensure that we cannot have any fraudulent breaches of the cards. The cabinet was satisfied and the Chief Medical Officer made one further amendment and we have taken that on board.”

“We will engage the public through various means of the procedures and processes that will be in play for persons who have already been vaccinated how they can secure the cards. This will be done in an orderly format. We have sufficient cards to satisfy the demand,” Nicholas added.
