Local Attorney Supports Mandatory Vaccination for Antiguans and Barbudans

With the issue of mandatory vaccination very topical, local Attorney Kenny Kentish is of the view that vaccination should be made mandatory.

Kentish who was a guest on State media explained some of the ways it could be implemented if the government chose to go ahead with the suggestion.

“For instance would persons who are unvaccinated be able to travel on public transportation, would they be able to enter public spaces including the banks, the supermarket and all of those things,” Kentish said

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Gaston Browne who supports mandatory vaccination, agrees with a medical doctor, that it should be implemented, beginning with frontline workers.

“I support the position of Dr Belizaire that as we move towards mandatory vaccination we have to target specific sectors starting with our healthcare workers and to move towards other front-line workers to make sure that they get vaccinated.”

A new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC has revealed that unvaccinated people are 11 times more likely to die from COVID-19 than those who are fully vaccinated.

The new research released on September 10 found, bolstering evidence that the inoculations continue to provide powerful protection, even against the delta variant.
