Sources close to Indian Diamantaire say Mehul Choksi was with a woman when he was found in Dominica but she wasn’t his girlfriend.
They say the fugitive businessman has told reporters that she was a part of the team involved in his abduction, torture and arrest.
Mehul Choksi was reported missing on May 23 from Antigua and Barbuda and was later found and arrested in Dominica.
He alleged through his lawyers that he was abducted on May 23 and that people with ‘links to India’ abducted him in collaboration with Antiguan officials.
The sources further stated that the woman was staying in Antigua.
On May 29, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne said he was told that Choksi may have travelled to Dominica with his girlfriend and was caught.
Antiguan Trumpet was unable to ascertain the name of the woman. According to Dominica News Online, Highcourt Judge, Justice Bernice Stevenson Brooks has issued a gag order restricting information or comment from being made public by the attorneys involved in Mehul Choksi’s case.
