To combat COVID-19, St Kitts and Nevis would receive 21,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines under the COVAX facility from PAHO( Pan American Health Organization ) by today, i.e. 6th April 2021.
This revelation is made from the PAHO itself, apart from five other countries that will get the vaccine today.
Countries that will receive vaccines on 6th April 2021
St Vincent and the Grenadines 24,000 doses of vaccine
Bermuda 9,600 doses of vaccine
Dominica 28,800 doses of vaccine
Dominican Republic: 91,600 doses of vaccine
Barbados: 33,600 doses of vaccine
Apart from these countries, some other countries would get in the next two days those are following :
Grenada 24,000 doses of vaccine
St Lucia 24,000 doses of vaccine
Antigua and Barbuda 24,000 doses of vaccine
Notably, many Caribbean countries, including Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Suriname, Bahamas, Guyana, received numerous doses of vaccines.
Following countries received vaccines from PAHO under COVAX facilities :
Trinidad and Tobago :33,600 doses of COVID-19 vaccines
Bahamas : 33,600 doses of COVID-19 vaccines
Suriname : 24,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines
Guyana : 24,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine
Jamaica : 14,400 doses of COVID-19 vaccines
Additionally, St Kitts and Nevis started their vaccination drive a month ago, and the two island country already vaccinated near to 30 % of their people.
Caribbean countries earlier received more than 400k vaccines from the Government and people of India under their “Vaccine Maitri” drive.
Notably, St Kitts and Nevis have received 20,000 doses of the Oxford-Astrazeneca coronavirus vaccine from India.
Prime Minister Timothy Harris is continuously appealing to people to vaccinate themselves and he also ensured that the vaccine is completely safe.
COVAX, the vaccines pillar of the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator, is co-led by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance Gavi) & the World Health Organization (WHO) working in tie-up with UNICEF as critical implementing partner and civil society organisations, vaccine manufacturers, the World Bank, and others. In the Americas, the PAHO Revolving Fund is the recognized acquisition agent for the COVAX facility.
