The Board of Directors of the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) has appointed Anthony Whittier to the position of Director-General of the body as of April 1, 2021.
It is expected that among his priority tasks will be the restoration of the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Category One status to the ECCAA and working with the UN International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in advancing aviation safety and security in the ECCAA subregion.
In 2020, the FAA downgrade ECCAA’S rating due to lack of compliance with ICAO safety standards.
Whittier a national of Trinidad and Tobago joins the ECCAA with 20 years of Civil Aviation Authority experience.
ECCAA, which headquarters is in Antigua, is a civil aviation authority serving the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States including Dominica, St Lucia, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, British Virgin Islands, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
