The deal was a reward for the Army’s decision to allow the country to return to democracy some time ago, but the process was abruptly halted by last month’s military coup.
This declaration does not mean that trade between the two countries will be completely halted, but the US is also imposing separate economic sanctions on Myanmar. For example, the United States and Britain had already banned two groups of Myanmar military-controlled companies.
