Antigua and Barbuda should Brace for Spike in Covid-19 Cases

Antigua and Barbuda should now brace for a Spike in Covid Numbers as the Ministry of Health conduct increase testing.  Although the dashboard for today Tuesday 9th February have announced 1 new Covid-19 related death with no new cases as of 6 pm on the 8th February, nonetheless, there are still 252 pending results.

Our source within the Ministry of Health has outlined to us, of the 252 pending results, we should expect a spike in the numbers to be announced, which could be more than 30 new Cases and the Country should now brace itself for this reality as Covid number rise in Antigua and Barbuda.

Our Newsroom further understands that several people who return positive Covid-19 test result by private Medical Practitioners using the Antigen test are now having their results reviewed by the Ministry of Health Officials using the PCR test.  

One Doctor who spoke to Trumpet News indicated that things seem to be spiralling out of control and there is a need for more rapid testing and a possible lockdown to get things under control and to allow for the positive cases to be identified and isolated.

Meanwhile, Economic activities are slowing down as several businesses have begun bracing themselves for an eventual spike and lockdown by requesting employees to work from home in the interest of employees health and safety.

Companys have also began rotating employees by implementing Covid-19 operational protocol and planning for any potential infection of staff, to allow for isolation and the continued operation of the business.
