Anthony Smith Donate 500 books to Freemans Village Primary School

The students of the Freemans Village Primary School were elated to have their library furnished with over 500 new books donated by Anthony Smith Jr., the UPP representative for the All Saints West area.

The donation marks another step, in what Mr. Smith fondly calls the “Need to Read Program”. The moto: Empowering young minds one book at a time, highlights the candidate’s commitment to the development of the youth and the overall All Saints West Constituency.

Mr. Smith donated over 500 books to the Sea View Farm Primary School late last year and promised then to do the same for all of the schools in his constituency. Although the Freemans Village Primary School is only the second stop Mr. Smith pointed out that he is still committed to refurbishing the library at Buckley Primary School, and J T Ambrose in All Saints Village.

The young businessman says that his commitment is and will always be, to improve the lives of people in his community. The best way to do that he says, is through education. If we improve education, we develop entrepreneurs, we will improve sport and culture and our communities would be better.

Anthony Smith turned the packages over to the Principal, Mrs. Jasmin Baptiste and a few teachers and students in a small ceremony, where the educators express their appreciation.

Mr. Smith also took the time to encourage the students on the importance of reading to their educational and personal development. The candidate, shared his joy of reading, as he narrated parts of one of his favorite Hardy Boys books, “The Secret of the Wild Cat Swamp”. The joy of reading, he pointed out, was comparable to watching television.

The student council was represented by student, Jaydene Johnson and the President Naisha Phillip, who gave the vote of thanks. President Phillip expressed her gratitude, for the much-needed donation to renovate the school’s library, stating that the library was in dire need of new books. Ms. Phillip also showed her excitement for the high caliber of books that were donated by Mr. Anthony Smith Jr.

She commended the UPP representative not only for the needed donation but for donating during the challenging economic times, when finances are scarce.

Smith pointed out that he is motivated by the unlimited talents, aptitude, and determination of people in his constituency and the need for governmental empowerment to pull them up the social economic ladder.

Anthony Smith’s addition to the UPP team has motivated the young electorate with a new impetus for the local politics. Youths in Antigua connects to Anthony Smith and his policies in Education, entrepreneurship, sports, culture and strong family values. Smith has a strong financial background from his formative years as a banker and community organizer drawing a strong following from young and old on Facebook and other social media platforms.

Exemplifying the UPP people first mantra Anthony Smith Jr. demonstrated that he is a man of his word. So as Sea View Primary School and Freemans Village have received their books refurbishing their library’s, JT Ambrose in All Saints Village and Buckley’s Primary School awaits their donations from the young businessman.
