Limited numbers expected for budget and throne speech

With the new year having rolled around, two marquee events are on the cards to take place in the month of January, the Governor General’s Throne Speech and the Prime Minister’s Bugdet estimates for 2021 but with the ongoing pandemic, measures will be taken keep those in attendance safe.

One of these measures will see a limited number of persons being invited to the two events. In fact, the custom that some churches take in having some of the chairs blocked off will be used.

It is not however aware how exactly the government plans to conduct their selections.

The Throne Speech which will see Governor General Sir Rodney Williams present the Government’s Legislative and Social agenda for 2021 is slated for January 14th. He will also review a Guard of Honours assembled for the occasion on the parliament grounds.

Following this exercise, he will then proceed to the Parliament chamber where he will address a joint sitting of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

On January 28th, Prime Minister Gaston Browne will present the 2021 Budget estimates.
