Consumer Affairs Department warns of excessive debt over the holidays.

Consumers are being warned to put Christmas on a budget in order to avoid excessive debt in the New Year.

Press Officer at the Prices and Consumer Affairs Division, Joanne Peters says Christmas debt is very real, and annually consumers find themselves struggling financially in January and February because they would have spent wantonly over the holiday period.

She is advising that persons prepare a budget in order to save money and get the items which they need.

During this time many businesses offer special promotions and sale; Peters is advising that consumers should take advantage of these deals once they are deemed reasonable.
