Bruce Greenaway murder accused attempt to get bail again, Judge says there has been “no change of circumstance”

Three of the murder accused in the Bruce Greenaway case who were denied bail a few months ago have tried to have their application reviewed but were told that “there is no bail application to make today because there has been no change of circumstance.”

In June, two defense force soldiers-Armal Warner and Aliyah Martin, both 20 years of age  were denied bail in the High Court by Justice Iain Morley.

About a week later, another one of their co-accused, a third soldier, 25 year-old Shakiel Thomas, was also refused bail.

The three soldiers along with 44 year-old police officer Jason Modeste were jointly charged with the murder of Bruce Greenaway of Falmouth. Modeste, however, never applied for bail.

Today, the three who were rejected had a bail review hearing where their lawyers argued that “the objection from the prosecution cannot be sustained any longer.”

Their claim was that there has been an unreasonable delay in the matter but it was revealed that there has only been two adjournments and the prosecution is already 99 percent ready.

The attorneys also stated that their clients would never interfere with the witnesses and should also be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The Judge declared that an application for bail may be more appropriate after the committal hearing December 21.

Attorney Lawrence Daniels represented Martin, while Attorney Andrew O’kola represented Warner and Thomas. Modeste’s lawyer is Wendel Robinson.

He informed the court that he has not made a bail application for his client because he thought it would be useless since all of the others were denied.

Robinson said however, that he may be making the application “very soon.” The four law enforcement officials are therefore still in prison.

The prosecution believes that they strangled Greenaway whose lifeless body was found at Indian Creek on April 13, a few days after his family reported him missing.

According to reports, the father-of-two was last seen in the company of soldiers before he went missing.
