The Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross says it is fully prepared for this active hurricane season, which, thus far, has seen the island being spared any direct impact from past storms.
However, as forecasters continue to monitor the Atlantic Ocean and systems coming off the coast of Africa, Manuel Pena Lugo, the disaster focal point coordinator with the Red Cross, says the agency is ready to assist over 500 families in the event a tropical storm or hurricane makes landfall here.
Meanwhile, speaking about the impact of the coronavirus on its operations, Pena Lugo says, as with any other sector, the virus has caused minor disruptions to the organizations with which it works.
However, its programs continue, and the agency recently made a donation to one of its partners.
