Health Minister says the number of persons in quarantine is expected to rise following an ongoing contact tracing exercise

Health Minister Molwyn Joseph says by the end of today about 120 persons would be in quarantine and at least two new infections because of the reckless behaviour of one individual.

Reportedly persons have been renting cottages and villas and having social functions.

Joseph, while speaking in parliament this morning (Thursday, September 24), says persons should be more responsible taking into account that schools have reopened.

Reportedly this person also went to a local gym, which has since closed its doors in order to provide for proper contact tracing.

Joseph says that those persons who will be placed in quarantine due to this irresponsible behaviour would have to be tested for the COVID-19 virus.

Meanwhile, Joseph says those persons who continue to breach quarantine protocols will be facing hefty penalties and would be subject to wearing an electronic monitoring device.
