Barbuda’s tent-dwellers are thankful for milder weather conditions, and hope to be in proper houses before next season

Those Barbudans who are still living in tents, three years after Hurricane Irma, are counting their blessings: The tropical disturbance that ravaged Antigua with rain and flooding did not have that great an impact on the sister-island.

Secretary of the Barbuda Council Paul Nedd says it has been raining lightly on Barbuda, and those who reside in tents are managing to withstand the weather.

However, those who have relatives with houses are able to seek refuge with them.

Nedd says the Council is still working along with a number of international donor agencies in an effort to end the “tent living” and get people back into their homes before next year’s Hurricane Season.
