The Rotary Club of Antigua Sundown will not allow the COVID-19 pandemic to derail its fundraising drive, and, for the first time, will host a telethon event this weekend.
Stacy Cabral, Public Relations Officer for the service club, says it is still getting requests for assistance from a number of vulnerable persons, and the telethon is a way to raise funds to support them.
The line-up for the event will include a slate of local and regional performers, who have given of their time for free, Cabral says.
The event will be staged on Saturday, November 7, and carried live on ABS Television. It will also be streamed live on the station’s Facebook page beginning at 8 p.m.
For those who do not wish to take part in the telethon, but would like to donate to the club, Cabral says that drop boxes have been placed at a number of locations, including Dews Lumberyard and Exotic Antigua. A pick-up service, she says, is also available.
Cabral is urging residents to contribute, since the funds raised will be going toward a number of worthy projects, such as the Club’s feeding programme and donations to young mothers.
