The Constable, who is attached to the Guyana Police Force’s Command Centre, was also arrested and is believed to have disclosed the footage in exchange for the money.

The arrests follow the public release of the surveillance footage by Mohamed during a press conference on Monday, October 26, as he sought to support his account of an October 12 incident involving Special Branch head Prem Narine.

Just on Tuesday night, attorney General Anil Nandlall says Mohamed could face further criminal charges following allegations that he paid a police constable $800,000 to obtain surveillance footage linked to an ongoing criminal case.

Mohamed has described the incident as an assassination attempt against him.

The shooting occurred outside Narine’s residence, where police allege that the Opposition Leader and two associates were involved in conduct that led to criminal charges.

Mohamed and the two associates have already been charged in connection with the October 12 incident and granted bail.

According to reports of the encounter, an employee at the residence indicated that Mohamed wanted investigators to contact his attorneys.
