Minister of Education Daryll Matthew has praised the National Library Summer Programme for encouraging children to make productive use of their summer vacation through reading and educational activities.
During a recent visit to the programme, Matthew said he was encouraged to see so many young people actively engaged in learning, reading and discovering new ideas outside the traditional classroom setting.
The minister described the initiative as an important investment in the country’s future, noting that programmes of this nature help foster curiosity, creativity and a lifelong appreciation for education.
“It was a pleasure to visit the National Library Summer Programme and see so many young minds engaged in reading, learning, and discovering new ideas during their summer break,” Matthew said.
He added that the programme plays a significant role in helping to shape the future of Antigua and Barbuda by providing children with opportunities to develop academically while school is out.
Matthew also commended the staff of the National Library for their dedication in organizing and delivering the programme and thanked parents for supporting their children’s participation.
He encouraged the young participants to continue embracing learning beyond the classroom.
“Keep reading, keep learning, and keep dreaming big!” the minister urged.
The National Library Summer Programme is one of several initiatives aimed at promoting literacy and keeping children engaged in educational and enriching activities during the summer holidays.
