Passengers travelling between Antigua and New York are being urged to check with their airlines after severe winter weather in the United States forced flight cancellations on Monday.
The Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) issued an advisory warning of likely disruptions due to blizzard conditions and severe winter storm warnings affecting the New York area.
The Authority confirmed that JetBlue flight 745, which was scheduled to arrive at the VC Bird International Airport at 2:38 p.m., has been cancelled. American Airlines flight 1637, due to arrive at 1:02 p.m., has also been called off as a result of the adverse weather conditions.
The advisory cautioned that additional delays or cancellations could follow depending on how the storm system develops. Travellers heading to or from New York are strongly advised to contact their respective airlines directly for the most up-to-date information regarding flight status and rebooking options.
The Airport Authority said it will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide further updates as necessary. Officials also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and thanked passengers for their patience and understanding.
