Government of Montserrat signs 15 year fuel supply agreement with Delta Petroleum

On Friday, July 18, 2025, the Government of Montserrat formalized a significant milestone in its energy strategy by signing a new fifteen-year agreement with Delta Petroleum Limited for the supply of diesel, petrol, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to the island.

The signing ceremony, held in Brades, was attended by Delta Petroleum’s Country Manager, Mrs. Roslyn Sealy, and General Manager, Mr. Sylvester, alongside senior government officials.

The long-term agreement will see Delta make a substantial investment in Montserrat, including a near doubling of the island’s local fuel storage capacity. This critical infrastructure expansion is expected to strengthen Montserrat’s energy security, lower fuel costs for consumers, and buffer the island against global fuel price volatility.

“This agreement will see the island benefit through new infrastructure, in one of our most critical areas,” said Acting Premier Hon. Veronica Hector. “Infrastructure which will deliver cost savings to the public, and importantly a security of supply of the fuels that we all rely on—whether that be at work, at home, or to keep the lights on. We have a long relationship with Delta, a firm that has stood shoulder to shoulder with Montserrat throughout our most trying times.”

The agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for Delta’s initial and ongoing investment, and further secures a stable and strategic partnership between Montserrat and one of the Caribbean’s leading energy suppliers.

Speaking on behalf of Delta, General Manager Mr. Sylvester reaffirmed the company’s dedication to the island. “This signing is indicative of Delta’s commitment to the people of Montserrat as we continue to be a part of the community,” he said.

This development marks a forward-looking move in ensuring a reliable, affordable, and resilient fuel supply for Montserrat over the next decade and beyond.
