The charred remains of a human being were discovered in Morvant this morning.
According to police reports around 4am Thursday, officers of the San Juan police station and the San Juan fire station responded to a report of a fire behind a house along Cipriani Avenue Extension in Morvant.
When the fire was contained, officials were shocked to discover a body among the burnt bushes.
The deceased appeared to be a man of African descent, of slim build, who appeared to be in his 30s.
Officials said his body suffered burn marks, especially around the torso.
The body was viewed by a district medical officer who made certain pronouncements before ordering its removal to the Forensic Science Center in St James where a post mortem will be performed pending identification.
