On April 23rd, 2024, Mirie’s Magic Recipe: Loving, Leading, Legacy was released on Amazon, blending storytelling, tradition, and timeless life lessons.
With World Book Day celebrated yesterday, the remarkable woman behind it all — Miriam “Grandma Mirie” Samuel, a 91-year-old author – was honored as a national treasure and a keeper of cultural legacy.
To mark the anniversary of her book’s release, the National Public Library celebrated her as the Guest Author.
Her talk, themed “From Page to Palate”, connected cooking and gardening with powerful life lessons. She shared heartfelt stories, classic sayings, and surprise “seasonings of life” that reminded everyone just how enduring her message is.
A former teacher who served in nine schools across Antigua, Grandma Mirie has taken her “Legacy Tour” from Anguilla to the UK and throughout Antigua, reaching classrooms, kitchens, churches, senior homes, and correctional centers.
With simple recipes and nostalgic treats like coconut bread, sugar cakes and guava cheese—often made with ingredients from her own garden—she teaches values of patience, purpose, and pride.
“Since publishing my book, life has blossomed in ways I never imagined. I’ve received several awards, met leaders and influencers, laughed with seniors, stirred pots with inmates, and planted trees with students. My story is still being written,” she shared.
More than a book, Mirie’s Magic Recipe is a growing movement rooted in love, intention, and community.
As she expands her product line and prepares for tour stops in Malaysia, the USA, St Lucia, and Barbados, Grandma Mirie is also working on her second book,”Seasoned & Still Stirring”, coming this October.
Grandma Mirie’s journey is far from over, as she’s still stirring hearts and sweetening lives around the world.
